Blogger Friend School #101

Assignment: This would be a good week to tell about your worst struggles with a lifestyle of homeschooling.  Tell about something you’ve struggled with and how God’s mercies gave us the strength to get past it.  Also, share any curriculum/homeschool methods that have been a relief to you, i.e., a particular Teacher’s Manual or Homeschooling method that’s been easier for your family.  Talk about how you felt when the burden was lifted and Oh, What a Relief it is!

As I read this assignement, I am sitting here with my heart hurting from the funeral this morning.  The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of struggles  that go along with the lifestyle of homeschooling is life in general.  When you have your lessons planned out, know what you are going to do today, tomorrow, the next and that you are on track and doing what you have planned when you have it planned, the BAM - life happens.  Last year close to this time, I lost an aunt and we got so far off track, I thought we would never get back together.  Then this week has been turned upside down by yet another fact of life that cannot be avoided.  When life happens, you just have to perservere and keep on keeping on. With the strenght to get past it, I think about last year when we lost my aunt and how many school days that we passed up and how many days my neice missed (not to mention, how many she had to go and wasn't up to it) and I realized...being home is where we need to be.  We have the strenght to get past it because we can work thru life on our on time schedule, with out worrying about missing anything.  And even if it makes the lesson plans a little smudgey and rewritten, I take comfort in the fact that they didn't fall behind at home like they would have had they been in school.

  1. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. You are right, though, it is best for our children to be home during times like this all the way around.

  2. I am really sorry for your loss. It is so hard to even think about school when your heart is so heavy. I know that in the end you will be able to get all caught up.

  4. Even thought you may not feel it I read strenght in this. You are so right, home is were we need our children, so that life can happen, school can happen and all a while they are healing and growing with you and the Father. I pray that you find a time of peace and comfort. May God give you angles and words just as you need them in this time of healing.

    God Bless
