Devotion ~ Only for a Father

Only for a Father

Passage: Genesis 22:1-19

There are sometimes when begin a parent is a cinch. In fact, there are days when children practically raise themselves and all we do is sit back and watch.

And then there are other times. When a room goes uncleaned for weeks. When feelings are trampled. Some of the toughest times of parenting are those when children need to be encouraged to be the best they can be. Sometimes it gets so frustrating that if we weren't parents, we might just turn the other way and get on with life. But the parent-child relationship demands that we do whatever necessary to help our children grow.

Because he is our Father, God accepts the responsibilities that go along with parenting. He doesn't give up on us. He asks us to obey. He asks us to trust Him- even when the way and the purpose are unclear.

There are some things only a father would ask of a child. And there are some things a child will only do for a father. When God our Father asks, with our good in mind, how will we respond?
