Review: Front Runner

When we had to opportunity to review a board game called Front Runner, Samantha was all excited!  What more could you want then a game with horses??  Me, I was pretty excited that it was a game to work on math facts!!

Playing Front Runner is certainly one that needs your focus - no cooking dinner or other chores while playing this game!!  Front Runner is similar to most board games where you move your pawn to get to the end of the track.  The steps to getting there is the tricky part!  In order to move ahead in the game, you have 3 die to roll and get to plug the numbers into an equation to figure out!  There are bonus cards that allow you to re-roll, along with some 'help' cards to give the younger players a boost.  When we are playing just the three of us, we use 2 horse pawns each.  Pawns are chosen by drawing a marker card, not by the color.  The one thing that I had trouble with... the places didn't all have the same amount of spaces. (Which is why you draw your color instead of chose?).  The space at number 2 has 15 spaces to move along, while number 7 only has 5.

Front Runner is great for those who are pre-algebra, or are struggling with order of operations.  You can purchase Front Runner from Simply Fun for $32.
