3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Race

Today was the Girl Scout Diamonds 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.  My troop has participated every year and look forward to the event.

In the past, we have made a red and white boat and called it *The Love Boat* because it matched our Peace, Love and Diamonds shirts.
The second year, we themed our boat after the movie UP and tied helium balloons to it, called it *Hot Air*.

This year, after a trip to Branson, they appropriately went with the Titanic theme.  (yeah, it sank!)

G. S. Titanic

Six girls and five moms later, we have a Titanic, complete with icebergs!

We worked for two hours under a pavilion in the sunshine and walk it down to the lake and it starts POURING!  Smart girls just flipped their water-tight box over and got underneath it.
Even with the rain, the race must go on! (Hey, it wasn't storming, just a good downpour!)

Well, I ended up in the water, helping the girls load up and push off, so I didn't get any photos of them in the water (sinking).  A couple of the other moms did, but they haven't shared them yet.  They barely made it off shore before they sunk... but they swam the boat across and made it to the other shore.

We didn't get a prize for the fastest time (because we didn't make it across) or even the fastest sinker!  We did, however, get a best in show trophy!  The judges loved the boat!

Before they ever got finished with this boat, they were talking about what we are going to do next year!
