Getting and Eternal Perspective for 2007

What we do in this life echoes in eternity.

What does God value most?

People over possesions

Character over performance

I. God values your time ~ Matthew 6:20 ~ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where theives do not break through nor steal.

1. How much time do you spend reading God's instruction anual for your life?

2. How much will you pray and communicate with God in 2007?

II. God values your gifts and talents ~ I Corinthians 12  ~ 1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.  2Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.  3Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.  4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.  6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;   9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;  10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:  11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.  12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  14For the body is not one member, but many.  15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?  16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?  17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?  18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.  19And if they were all one member, where were the body?  20But now are they many members, yet but one body.  21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.  22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:  23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.  24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.  25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.  27Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  28And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.  29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?  30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?  31But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.  ~~ Matthew 25:14-30 ~ 14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.  15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.  16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.  17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.  18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.  19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.  20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.  21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.  22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.  23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.  24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:  25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.  26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:  27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.  28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.  29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.  30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ~~ Jeremiah 33:3 ~Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

III. God values our tithes and sacrificial gifts to Him.

1. To see if His children will be obedient in their weekly giving to Him ~ I Corithians 16:2 ~ Upon the first day of the week, let everyone of you lay be him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

2. To see if we will trust God for our supply and needs each day.

3. To see if we will invest in the kingdom's work while we are here on this earth.

IV. God wants to give His children a full reward in eternity

I Corinthains 3:12-15 ~ Now,if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1If any man's work shall abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall recieve a reward. 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.

Revelations 3:11 ~ Behold, I come quickly, hold fast that which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Revelations 22:12 ~ And, behold, I come quickly: and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
