I would have never thought that a friendship that was formed in 3rd grade would still be as alive as it is today. Amy and I met in 3rd grade and were friends all thru elementary school... when we hit Junior High, we were split to go to different schools... talk about the end of the world!! We stayed in pretty close touch, but each had our own friends and school things all thru jr. high and high school. We still were in contact when she went away to college & got married. I was part of her wedding and then... she moved to China! As missionaries, they were sent to China... they left the weekend I brought the twins home from the hospital... In the beginning, we were able to keep up with each other thru her mom & then later thru email and facebook. They have been *home* (Georgia) for the past several years and we get together every time she is here to visit family. When we head to the east coast (rarely) we stop in and visit them.
The past couple of times they (her and the kiddos) were here, they stayed the night with us - all the kiddos loved it and it was nice to be able to spend time chatting with Amy. They are on the list to go back overseas...but, while they are here, we will make the best of our time together...
The boys wanted to pitch a tent to sleep in:
As you can see it was daylight when we left them out there to start it - then I peeked thru the window after the sun went down and they were still struggling.. We ended up going out there and helping them get to the finished product...
The girls wanted no part of tenting or helping either one:
Amy homeschools her kiddos also, and they have a tree frog for a pet - that travels with them- so we set his cage by our turtles cage and I have to say- I think they hit it off and became buddies over night...
