We offically finished 1st grade last week!!!
This week will be spent getting ready for a family trip to Myrtle Beach!!! But we are going to work in some learning as well. One of the main things I want to really focus on this summer is SCIENCE!!! Mainly experiments, but I would like to throw a bit of nature in as well. Once we return from our trip - it will be about time for all the fun places around here to be putting out their summer schedules (mainly the 4 libraries that we have access to). I plan to do at least one experiment each week -maybe 2, depending on how in depth they are!! We will work these exeriments around our outings - we plan to hit the pool quite a bit this summer as well!!
One of the resources I have and am going to be using as 'science' this summer is a cookbook called A Treasury of Top Secret Recipes. It has a few recipes for some homemade candy bars - I would like for the kiddos to make some of them, and compare them to the real thing.
Other resources I have for our summer science fun stuff are a scienc series from Scholastics. One is called Science Suprises and the other is called Science in a Bag. I also have a download from Homeschool eStore call Super Science Concoctions - there are some fun things in there!
Can't wait to see how it goes.
