Well, yes -we stayed up late last night!! December 31st is my birthday, and for as long as I can remember, we have always had a New Year's Eve party at my mom's house. They have always been fun, and you never know who will show up, because everyone knows that we are all there. There is no telling what will be going on...for many years, we cleared out moms kitchen table and lined danced - yes, we went thru that phase! Then, as we get older...we have moved to sitting at the table that was once carried out - playing board games!! We ususally have at least one new hot game of the year that someone got for Christmas, and then of course, all of the favorites that we have played before. Then, at about 5 til midnight - we all go outside, with our sparkling cider and fireworks and spend about 15 minutes out there - counting down, shouting, drinking and shooting off some fireworks. After that, most everyone goes home cept us and my sister's family - my daddy makes us all a huge breakfast at midnight. We eat a big breakfast, then go home and crash and sleep most of the next day - always been what we do...I hope it never changes!!
As for today, we sleep in late - it always feels good - the kiddos slept late also!! We got up, ate some breakfast and then moved onto the couch. Hogs played in the Capital One Bowl - we lost, but hey - we made it that far, so we had to watch!! After that, we went to inlaws for dinner - the typical New Year's traditional dinner - pork roast, mashed taters, gravy, fried cabbage and black-eyed peas. We were tired, so we came home and they are all in bed and I am headed that way.
