Yes, that came out of my mouth at Riley's ballgame tonight. He knows how to get hit. Here's why. He swung at a ball tonight and it hit him, and the ball went forward. He was thrown out at first.
Well, as many times as he got hit last year, he knew that if he got hit, he takes the base. We learned tonight, that since he was swinging, it was considered a live ball and he was, in fact, out at first.
He went to the dugout in tears - because he got hit, not because he got out. In all the times he got hit last year, he never cried! He got iced and pulled for the rest of the game (yet another reason for more tears). It didn't appear to swell any, so we opted to wait and see what it looks like in the morning before we rush to the doctor. It appears he will have a pretty bruise there though...

Start of a new week.. wonder what it holds?
Since I was finally able to enjoy my day of doing absolutely nothing for most of yesterday (cook out for dinner at the inlaws was ALL I did!) I was ready to get started on this week!
Kiddos and I got up and went to church this morning - great service on Memorial Day - spoke of remembering the vets, but also those who have gone on before us. He did stress that it was important to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom, that that is what the day was about and why it was a federal holiday. But, he also said to take some time and reflect on those that we love that we have lost. This was tough, as it was just over a week ago that Meme passed (still need to blog about that week - will be backdated and will link it from here when I get it done). Brother Paul also talked about reaching out to those we still have here with us and giving ourselves to those in need. The verse he referred to was Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing : for in due season we shall reap , if we faint not. I think we need to use this verse as Girl Scouts! Something to keep in mind during the time while we are volunteering and working on service projects!
Riley opted to go with Grannie from church, Samantha was going to come home and hang out with me (the original plan was to clean the house). Roger and his friend were home from fishing, so we grab Hershey and headed to the lake... to see how bad the flooding was in the area we were going to be in...
Here is where we turn into the campgrounds:

We make a right turn at the stop sign, but can't go much further than the sign. The signs furthest out in the water are the *welcome to the swim area* rules sign! Yeah, there is still sand/beach supposed to be past those signs...
Here is the boat slip:
Roger is walking out to the Marina slip to get a ferry over to the slip where our boat is - there in the background. The caution tape is where we walk onto the slip... the water is up pretty high... We are hoping it drops some before we head down there to camp for the week!
Hersey had a blast in the water - we went to the *cold hole* and Hershey walked the creek there and loved it! Boy, my van smelled like a wet dog by the time we got home! And boy, was she tired...
Dinner was taco salad at mom & dad's house, and we were pretty tired, so Rog and I came home...kiddos begged to stay with Grannie. I just got a text from Chelle & now they are begging to go with her! I told them I didn't care, but I was going to bed...

All gave some, Some gave all...
Roger had to work at the station today... Kiddos were at Chelle's... I spent hours working on my Girl Scout End of the Year Financial Report!
I did grab the kiddos and we headed to Mardel - they were having a sale of sorts, so I grabbed a couple things we need for next year - Language Arts books - we are going to use Spectrum - Language Arts, Vocabulary, Spelling, Writing and Reading. Mardel's always has *one* of everything, so I went ahead and grabbed the one they had on the shelf...will pick up the other when we go back for the sale in July! We also found some really cool pocket dictionary's for the kiddos... AND Mavis Beacon typing! YAY!
Since yesterday was Dad's birthday, we had a cook out at their house... not many people, just chill and hanging out... let's see what the rest of the week holds...

Way to spend a Friday...
Well, after being out of town Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and then running errands on Wednesday and a doctor appointment that took up half or more of my Thursday I was looking forward to spending all day Friday at home, doing as little as possible.
That didn't happen....
Mom called and wanted to go to Brinkley - so the kiddos and I decided to join her and make the trip with her.
A stop at Fred's for some flowers to take to the cemetery for Aunt Jerline & Uncle Millard. Cemetery had been recently mowed, so we spent some time cleaning their stones and fixing the flowers.
A trip out to Rich to visit with Aunt Laverne - kiddos took their metal detectors and spent a little bit of time out by the shed searching - we did have a couple of finds - an old rusty washer & a rolled up tube of something...

We left there, headed home to get Goosey from school and then did somewhat of a Chinese fire drill with the kiddos... Samantha went with Gramma. Goosey, Chunky and Riley came home with me to play outside. After a while, Gramma grabbed Chunky and they all went to Hunan's for dinner - Riley and Goosey stayed with me. Chelle came over and we all had Creamy Chicken Pasta with peas.
After dinner, Chelle and I made some strawberry freezer jam...looks and smells like it's gonna be pretty good! (Inside the pectin box, I found a recipe for GRAPE! jelly - will be trying that later this summer!!).
Goosey went with her dad, Riley went over to Gramma's and Chelle and I spread out in the den floor. We had a couple of things to work on- one of them being camping trip. We needed to get a menu, grocery list and coupons sorted so we were ready to go next weekend! I think we have it under control!
We worked on something else as well... I will have to tell you about that later - it is late and I am tired and headed to bed!

Out all day again
Up and going again today - have a few errands and I have to go to the doctor for a drug study visit... Yep - time for a shot!
I guess the study is going ok... I can't really tell much difference... My chest is still bothering me, the oxygen helps a little, but not where I am 'better'. I I'd notice a few things over the past week, due to the stress and change in my meds, but I think it is all related to the stress level.
Home just in time to grab Chunky from school and make some dinner. Chicken salad sandwiches & tater chips... Made from the rotisserie chicken (yummo) that I picked up!
I canceled Girl Scouts because there was really not much that we needed to do to plan for bridging - we took care of the plans by texting!!
Rog took Chunky and went to the ball park -Ry's team played right before Chunky's team. Rog went to watch the Sox play - they won!
Rog's friends came over later to discuss our upcoming camping trip. Waters up, but our site is open... Getting to the boat will be tricky! But we are still going to go and we are EXCITED and ready!
I'm kinda chilled so I am covering up and heading to bed...

So much for a nice quiet day
I have been going full blast all day!
Got up and going early, took Chunky to school and had a list of errands to do, which included an extended trip to the Girl Scout office - reregistering for this next year, getting Samantha's new vest and pins, picking up several things for our bridging ceremony this next week - as well as a few other places.
I ended up at the florist and had lunch with Aunt J and the girls... hung out there until time to go grab Chunky from school & we skipped out on church and went to watch Rog play ball... they lost, but still was nice to get to watch him!

Destination Disney: Best time to visit
What is your favorite time of year
to visit Disney and why?
to visit Disney and why?
Haven't found my favorite time of year... the very first time I went, it was February, which turned out to be a little too cool for me. Plus, it was President's Day Weekend - BIG MISTAKE!! That was one of the busiest weekends of the year!
Next trip - June - nope...no more! Too hot and too many people!!
Most recent trip - October. So far, that was the best. Still warm enough during the day, but not *middle of the summer sweating* heat. If we go back, late October seems to be an idea time...

The Truth About Dating, Love and Just Being Friends by Chad Eastham
Book Description
Chad Eastham, with his typical wit and wisdom for teens, brings much sought after advice on girls’ favorite topics including dating, love, friendship, and other important stuff.Chad shines some much-needed light on these major issues for teens. Rather than let their feelings navigate them blindly through their tumultuous adolescence, Chad offers clarity, some surprising revelations, and answers to some of their biggest questions: How do I know who to date? When should I start dating? How should I start dating? Is this really love? And, Why do guys I like just want to be friends?
Packed with humor that adds to the sound advice, this book will help teens make better decisions, have healthier relationships, and be more prepared for their futures. Just a few things girls will learn include: Five things you need to know about love; Eight dumb dating things even smart people do; Ten reasons why teens are unhappy; and Ten things happy teens do.
Any teen can live a happier, healthier life: they just need to hear The Truth.
As I expected, this book was still a little beyond where we currently are in life. However, as much as I don’t want to admit it, I know we are on the fast track to being that age! I did read through the book, and I liked the way it was presented. This will be going up on the shelf and we will revisit it together when the kiddos get a little older.

Think the rain will ever let up??
It's Tuesday afternoon and the sun has been shining all day! What a blessing! I spent Saturday at my sister's house working on some Girl Scout Awards and sorting/cleaning our scrap area - it is a MESS and we are so behind!
I left her house and got home just in time - the rain started falling... and it didn't let up! I was woken at about 1:30am Sunday morning, the Fire Department was called out for a water rescue... that was just the beginning. The rain fell so hard and so fast that roads went under almost immediately. The guys ran all night long, and I stayed awake, listening... During this time of listening, I was also chatting with my cousin who was in Tulsa - worried about her house. And while she shouldn't have, because there was nothing that any one could do, she had all reason for it. She left Tulsa at 3:30am and drove home - to her house submerged under 3feet of water . Everything in her house was a complete loss...
The area I live in was pretty much an island on Sunday - they canceled the schools here in my area for Monday and Tuesday - we are still waiting to hear about Wednesday. (Not that we care too much, but Samantha does have speech - so we do need to know). Our school wasn't canceled!! We pressed on. Looks like we will be finishing up by May 13th...
While things are starting to dry out, it will still be a while before my normal route out of here is clear. Having to go around town to get to the other side is a bit frustrating!
Ballfields are under water, so no game again tonight - 5th one that has been rained out - we have made up one. There are not any planned games on Mother's Day Weekend, but I am wondering if they will plan some make-ups that weekend...
We are headed to scouts tonight - which is the one good thing about the game being rained out!
